Pragmatic Play

Pragmatic Play Live Casino is a new venture from Pragmatic Play – a company known primarily for their video slots. Pragmatic Play Live Casino was formed after their acquisition of Extreme Live Gaming, who – for a while – were a market leader in the live casino world. After the acquisition, Pragmatic Play used Extreme Live Gaming’s setup, and rebranded it.

In this Pragmatic Play Live casino review, we’re going to be taking a look at which games they offer, and where their games can be played. Let’s begin by taking a look at who Pragmatic Play actually are, and how they came to acquire one of the leading live casino operators in the world.

Company Information and History

Pragmatic Play was founded back in 2007. Back then, they were known as TopGame Technology, and they released their first game in 2008. Unfortunately, they didn’t really find any success in the iGaming industry at first, and while they did have some success in the US market, the ever-confusing legal situation of online gambling in America hampered their growth quite a lot. In 2015, the company decided a fresh start was needed, and they rebranded themselves to Pragmatic Play.

The first gambling license they received was from the Government of Curacao, and this is when Pragmatic Play really started to rise in popularity. Their games started being featured at more and more online casinos, and a couple of years later they acquired gambling licenses from the UK’s Gambling Commission and the Maltese Gaming Authority. 2018 saw things really take off for Pragmatic Play, and they released some hugely-popular video slots including John Hunter’s Da Vinci Treasure, Madame Destiny and Peking Luck.

Today, they boast a library of over 150 casino games – some 80 of which are optimized for mobile users. They also acquired Extreme Live Gaming – and this was the starting point for Pragmatic Play’s live dealer casino operation. After the acquisition, Pragmatic Play abandoned Extreme Live Gaming’s three live dealer games, instead, choosing to develop their own games. As of May 2019, none of Pragmatic’s live dealer games are yet available to play for real money.

Pragmatic Play Live Casino Review: The Games

Pragmatic Play decided not to continue Extreme Live Gaming’s tables. Instead, they developed a new range of games from scratch. Currently, they offer three games. Unfortunately they’re not live yet, so we were unable to play them when writing this Pragmatic Play Live casino review.

Pragmatic Play’s Live Blackjack

Pragmatic Play’s Live Blackjack is played using 8 decks of cards which are shuffled manually. The game is played using Vegas rules, and this means the dealer draws two cards initially. The table is capable of seating 7 players although it is possible to “Bet Behind”.

There are two side bet options available; Pairs and 21+3. You can view detailed statistics of the game’s history too, allowing you to see the results of past hands.

Pragmatic Play’s Live Roulette

Pragmatic Play’s Live Roulette is a single-zero European variant. The game is designed to appeal to a wide variety of players, and this is made possible thanks to multiple betting options offers. Along with the regular game board, there’s also a Racetrack, for placing French and Neighbor bets. The game also uses multiple cameras – something we’ve seen in some of the more mainstream live casino providers. This enhances the playing experience, and gives you a close up view of the wheel as it spins.

Pragmatic Play’s Live Baccarat

Pragmatic Play’s live Baccarat uses standard rules, and an unlimited number of players can be seated at the table. As you’d expect, you can place bets on the Banker, Player and Tie bet options. There’s detailed Roadmaps available, and this allows you to view the results of past game rounds.

Streaming Quality

Pragmatic Play Live Casino use the latest technology to ensure their streams are of the highest-possible quality. Generally speaking, their games are streamed in crisp, clear high-definition, and mobile users can also enjoy the games, too. While we weren’t able to actually play them when writing our Pragmatic Play Live casino review we did manage to find videos of their games being trialled.

The audio is clear – and you’ll have no problems interacting with the dealers. One of the only criticisms of their software, is that – in certain card games – the actual cards themselves can be a little hard to make out. Thankfully, the graphical representation of the cards is very clear – but in the future, we’d like Extreme Live Gaming to work on the card’s visuals.

Naturally, the better your internet connection, the better-quality stream you’ll be able to enjoy. For the most part, however, their streams are high-quality, high-definition, and generally pretty good.

Playing Interface and Betting Options

Unfortunately, at the time of writing this Pragmatic Play live casino review, none of the games were live – which made reviewing the playing interface and betting options challenging. As such, please be aware that the following is based on promotional material issued by the developer. Details are subject to change at any time.

It doesn’t look as though Pragmatic Play will be using a lobby interface. Instead, you’ll simply open the games up directly from the online casino you’re playing at. The games themselves look to be well-made and easy-to-navigate. The playing interface is clutter-free, and all of the betting options and game information is found at the bottom of the screen. To the top-right-hand-corner you’ll see the game options. This includes visual and audio settings.

When it comes to the betting options – well, we’re currently unable to provide any further information. Once the games actually launch, we’ll update this Pragmatic Play live casino review accordingly.

Languages Offered

Pragmatic Play’s dealers speak in English, and they employ a mixture of male and female croupiers. Like most live casino providers, Pragmatic Play offer a number of different languages in their UI, and they support a large number of languages. This allows players from all over the world to enjoy the games, without needing to try and decipher a foreign language!

Pragmatic Play Live Mobile Casino Review

All of Pragmatic Play’s live dealer games are built using HTML5 technology and this means they can be played from the majority of mobile devices. You don’t need to download or install any additional pieces of software, and the games automatically scale to fit the size of the screen you’re playing. One of the things we like about Pragmatic’s live dealer games is the fact that the game’s controls change if you’re using a mobile device. This allows you to see the betting table along with the bet-option buttons without needing to squint or adjust the screen settings.

Pragmatic Play’s Live Dealers

Pragmatic Play employ a mixture of male and female dealers. They’re all pretty friendly, chatty and relaxed – and you’ll find them more than happy to interact with the players in the chat. A number of the dealers are right from Extreme Live Gaming’s live studios too, so you can expect them to deal professionally at all times.

Pragmatic Play Live Casino Review: Our Thoughts

Despite only just having started their live casino operation, Pragmatic Play have shown great promise with their live operation. Their games (while limited) look good, and their technological infrastructure offers a high-quality and reliable service.

Unfortunately, at the time of writing this Pragmatic Play live casino review, there are not any online casinos offering their games. We’ll update this page when sites begin to offer them – and we’re told that it shouldn’t be long, so be sure to check back here from time to time.
